HAI KI Aiki Center's Mission
Hai, in Japanese, means yes. Hai is also used to point the proper path, way, or direction to a positive destination. Ki
is universal life force or energy.
HAI KI Aiki Center was founded in honor of Harry Ishisaka, to celebrate the memory of a very special person and Aikido
instructor who was your Senseis primary teacher. Those who knew Harry always said that Aikido was his middle name. Ki was
an essential ingredient of his teaching, so HAI KI has added significance for us. We teach with love, humility, and friendship,
with emphasis on Ki, fun and non-aggression. We train with the attitude that all who want to learn deserve our instruction
and help. We accept all students who want to learn, and we will work together in harmony, without competition, but instead,
with assistance our goal. We accept a responsibility to make our Aikido as good and special as we can.
VISION:
HAI KI Aiki Center will be directed to train students and expose the community at large, to the philosophy, approach to
life, and basic Aikido, as taught and modeled by Harry Ishisaka.
Hai to the day when HAI KI Aiki Center is recognized and accepted as a principal ennobling force in society, leading people
to a saner, more harmonious approach to life and HAI KI Aiki Center becomes a valued partner in the positive development of
the community.
HAI KI Aiki Center will promote, and through its students, live the lessons in Aikido and life, as taught by Harry Ishisaka.
Our teaching goal will be Harrys brand of fun Aikido and fun in life. The main objectives will be creative teaching and choice
role-modeling of the important characteristics unique to Harry: HAVE FUN, BE CONSIDERATE OF OTHERS, PRACTICE NON-AGGRESSION,
SPREAD LOVE IN THE WORLD, TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF, AND DEVELOP A PRACTICAL UNDERSTANDING OF KI.
HAI KI Aiki Center will also incorporate other characteristics essential to a well-rounded individual: patience, understanding,
confidence, awareness, self-esteem, spirituality, love of nature, respect, sensitivity, and finding enjoyment in every part
of life and sharing it enthusiastically with others. HAI KI Aiki Center will accept ALL students willing to learn, and will
develop and use creative methods of teaching to diverse groups, such as adolescents at risk, challenged individuals, seniors,
women, and children.
